Care Assistant for a young person P/T@ £13.09/hr in Blyth - FTE - £25.5k - Blyth - NE24

We are looking for a committed, experienced care assistant to support a young woman, in the Blyth area, to build her confidence, promote independence and engage in meaningful social and leisure activities. Initially the support will be at home with activities away from the immediate area building up to accessing the local community. 

A car driver with business use insurance and willing to use their own car is an essential criterion.

The young woman lives at home with her family and has become socially isolated due to recent events (mainly Covid). She is non verbal; making use of finger spelling and word mouthing to communicate. She is looking to learn sign language and would like her worker to be willing to do this with her. 

The ideal applicant would: 
●       Be experienced supporting individuals at home and in the community (informal experience is acceptable)
●       Be a calm individual with a mild nature
●       Possess excellent communication skills (Essential criteria)
●       British Sign Language knowledge would be an advantage but is not essential 
●       Physically able to manage a wheelchair – lifting in and out of vehicles, setting up

The young woman enjoys activities at home including crafting, Lego and reading. She is looking to broaden her hobbies and would like to learn to sew and cook. She would like a worker willing to engage in these activities with her. 
Rate of Pay: £13.09 per hour
Hours Breakdown:
 
6 hours per week split into 2 x 3 hour sessions
●       Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday – hours to be worked between 10am and 3pm
●       Flexibility on days and hours will be possible following successful probationary period 
●       Holiday accrued at 5.6 weeks pro rata per year 
An enhanced disclosure and barring certificate to work with both adults and children will be required for this position. This cost will be met by the employer. 

Appropriate training will be available for the successful applicant via an online Learning Together platform. Training will include:
●       Safeguarding
●       medication administration
●       moving and handling objects – wheelchair
Additional online training will be available via the portal for the successful applicant.
