Hours:
Saturday,s 12:30-8:30pm
Sunday 9:30-2:30am (every other week 2 sunday)
Two Sunday's (3:30-8:30pm) of the months
About the role
We are looking to recruit Personal Care Assistants to support a 10-year-old child with complex health needs at home and in the local community. She communicates verbally and enjoys playing, visiting the park, and baking at home. You will work alongside her parents and other Personal Assistants, building a trusting relationship and supporting her care, development, and enjoyment of everyday activities.
She has Spina Bifida and may sometimes require breathing support using a ventilator. Her ventilation needs have improved, although support may still be needed when she is unwell. Training will be provided to help you understand and meet her individual care needs.
Main responsibilities
- Provide personal care and support with her complex health needs in line with her care plan and parental guidance.
- Support play and social and leisure activities at home and in the community, including park visits and baking.
- Administer medication and provide gastrostomy feeds as set out in her care plan.
- Prepare and clean care equipment and prepare feeds and medication as directed by her parents and care plan.
- Support meal preparation as required.
- Keep the working area clean and tidy to support her safety and wellbeing.
- Work closely with her parents and other Personal Assistants, reporting any concerns promptly.
- Recognise your own limitations and let her parents know if you are not yet confident to carry out a task.
About you
You should be confident supporting a child with complex needs in a community setting and able to work in partnership with her parents. Experience of caring for a child with complex needs would be an advantage; training will also be provided. You must be a car driver with your own vehicle.
Training and checks
Training will be provided for the role. The post is subject to a satisfactory enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, with the cost met by the employer
