Do you want to make a difference to a young lady aged 18 to promote her independence Female PAs Required in Boston Spa there are two roles- hours can be flexible. She enjoys horse riding swimming and loves music.
Role one - to support during the week for 32 hours rate of pay £11.74
ten hours extra in school holidays
12 weeks x 16 hours for hospital appointments
Second role respite - one night per week for 15 hours £11.74 - 9 hours night rate £8.91
A DBS will be completed prior to starting the role
5.6 weeks annual leave pro-rata per annum
- Essential: Experience working with young people with additional needs, experience with personal care. Willingness to learn.
- Desirable: Makaton (sign language) and knowledge of communication aids.
- Family pets: Dog
- Weekly hours 32 in total plus an additional 10 hours in school holidays
- Days & Hours: Flexible hours available
- Weekends and School Holidays: Between 6 to 12-hour shifts available, according to activities planned.
- Additional hours available: Respite night available per week or 2 night weekend (flexibility). Also, support required for PA to come on short breaks (holidays) with us.
- *Please note: We are willing to look at two or more PAs joining the team and share the hours advertised.
About the young person:
- C requires support to meet all her care needs.
- C has significant learning, physical and communication difficulties and requires consistent support, intervention, and medical care for all her support needs.
- C is mobile but has limited verbal communication.
- She makes use of some basic signs and communicates by vocalising, pointing, and using a communication aid.
Overview of role:
As a PA, you will be involved in supporting her both in the home and the community. Morning hours will require helping C get ready for school, this will involve assisting her with showering, getting dressed and eating her breakfast, as well as making sure she has everything required for the day. You will then take C to school which is about a 5-minute drive or approx ten minute walk away (with wheelchair). In the afternoons once you have collected C from school, you’ll assist with her evening routine and any therapy programs that have been set by her therapists. You will be required to give her medications that she requires. A key area of focus will be to promote C’s independence, supporting her with prompting, as well as physically helping her to eat, get changed for bed and to assist her with personal hygiene.
As C’s Carer, you will work within the family home and the local community, following all areas of her care plan, ensuring her independence is continually promoted. Using a flexible and adaptable approach, you will encourage and facilitate C to participate in age-related fun and educational activities. This role will involve assistance with personal care, engagement in play and education, light household duties, and meal prep.
