Support Worker required to support a young person aged 15 years who lives in Durham, DH1
We are looking for a calm, reliable and enthusiastic personality to provide support for our son. Experience and understanding around autism will be an advantage.
Hours /Wage
Hours of work: Ideally 4 hours per week during term time, and 8 hours per week during school holidays, but flexibility will be appreciated. Wage is £13 an hour and will rise to £13.50 from 1st April 2026.
Duties
· Support the young person as needed in the home and community.
· Actively support verbalization by engaging in structured communication games that
encourage speech.
· Encourage social and independent living skills through activities like cinema, shopping, bus rides or any activities suitable for learning.
Additional Requirements/Information
While formal autism training will be an advantage, hands on experience working with children or young people with autism will be of equal value.
A full driving licence and car is essential.
Enhanced DBS will be required, employer will cover the cost.
