JOB PURPOSE: | To provide support for a 9-year-old little boy with a diagnosis of Down Syndrome.

MAIN DUTIES

We are currently looking to recruit a Support Worker to enable this little boy to access age-appropriate leisure activities in the local community. The child has limited verbal communication and some understanding of Makaton. He has a good sense of humour and loves to play games and to be outdoors visiting the park and beach and going for walks.

Hours

5 hours per week

Additional 5 hours per week during the 6 weeks school summer holidays (i.e.10 in total per week)

Rate of pay

£10.82 per hour. Holidays are 5.6 weeks per year, pro-rata

Person Specification

Successful applicant must:

Have at least 12 months experience working with children who have disabilities
Have an understanding of children with limited verbal communication and some experience with Makaton is desirable
Have a positive understanding towards children with disabilities
Have a genuine interest in working with children with complex needs
Have a high degree of initiative
Be punctual and reliable as the child cannot be left unsupervised
Be flexible
Have a happy, positive and caring nature
Respect confidentiality

Car driver essential and must have business insurance.

An Enhanced DBS Check is required, cost to be met by employer.
