My son is four years old, he's autistic and completely non-verbal currently. He has a happy disposition, and loves stories, music and the trampoline. We currently use picture cards, some makaton, to communicate some simple requests. He has started to follow some simple instruction this year.
He seems to be under-stimulated to many sensations, displaying sensory seeking behaviours, such as spinning things and chewing clothes.
He starts school in September, but I'm a single parent, and need help over the summer holidays.
I need someone to play with, read to, and look after him for two mornings a week, in the home, during term-time. Experience with pre-school autism education, picture exchange and sensory processing problems are an advantage.
My son enjoys walking, going to cafes, and the park. Therefore, trips out of the house will certainly be part of the care. I'm looking at somebody to take him for six hours a day (probably 10 till 4) and maybe lunch out of the house sometimes.
