Job Title: Personal Assistant to a Teenage Boy
Reporting to: (Parents)
Location: Drighlington and Surrounding locations.
Job Role: To assist and support with a variety of tasks to enable a teenage boy to be able to become more socially independent. 
About us: 
We are a family who are looking to help our teenager to engage in activities suitable for his age. This is to be supported by yourself as a positive role model. 
As a family we are looking to employ somebody who can be another trusted adult who can help him build his confidence in basic life skills and help him enjoy activities others his age engage in without his mum or dad not having to tag along.
The teenager the role is to support is a very kind, polite, well mannered, good humoured individual. He thrives on routine and trust. He is very black and white in his thinking and reasoning. When his needs are being met and he feels supported and understood there are very few issues.
His hobbies include, playing and watching sports (live and on TV), outdoor activities, cinema, gaming, attending football training and playing for the local team.  
He has the following medical needs / diagnosis
- Autism
- Adhd
- Epilepsy
- Sensory Processing Disorder
- Processing Difficulties
- Global Delay ( Socially and Emotionally around a 12 years of age)

Duties: 
To help and support him socially with activities to develop basic skills and also to support him to engage in activities with peers away from the family home.
In September he is moving onto post 16 and college. Between now and then he needs more experience of travelling on public transport, real life experience of going to places and purchasing items, planning and researching activities (with support) eg trip to the cinema and then actually doing it, help to arrange and carry out activities with peers. Visiting places where he can purchase food where he needs to choose, order and pay.
You will also be responsible for watching him take oral meds if this occurs during your working time and you will be trained to deliver Buccal Midazolam in the case of a seizure. (Training for a licence will be provided by a registered trainer alongside basic seizure 1st aid)
The type of person we are looking for:
We are looking to employ somebody aged 18+ who will be a good role model for an easily influenced teenager. Somebody who is patient and responsive to advice given about what works and doesn’t work for him. A person who is able to build good relationships with him, ourselves and his peers.  Other characteristics necessary include being; calm, reliable, trustworthy, punctual, easy going, flexible and adaptable, able to use initiative in ever changing situations.

Funded holiday pay equating to 5.6 weeks pro rata


Hours of work:
We have an award of 6hrs per week during term time and an additional 4 hrs during holidays.
The weekly hours ideally would be 2 x3 hour sessions weekly or 1x 6hr day at the weekend preferably Saturday. This can be alternated if required. If an alternative suggestion is offered by the interested and right candidate this can be discussed further at interview.
Rate of Pay: 
£11.30 an hour
Skills, Qualifications, Experience
Essential Desirable
Understanding of GDPR requirements and confidentiality Driving licence and car with appropriate insurance
Willingness to travel First Aid qualification
Willingness to undertake relevant training. Relevant experience with references
Ability to think, react and adapt to ever changing situations Computer literate
Work with challenging behaviours when needed 
Able to swim 
Enjoy being outdoors 
Interest in hobbies listed above 
Clear Communicator and listener 
Have Flexibility 
Basic knowledge and understanding of Autism, Adhd, global delay and processing difficulties. 
Aged 18+
