Title: Self employed Personal Assistant (PA/Support Worker)
Location: Bristol
Hours: 8 hours – Thursdays 9am-4pm [3:30pm]
Pay Rate: £15.00 per hour
Contract: Permanent (subject to a probationary period and satisfactory references/DBS check)
Personal Care:
Providing gentle guidance or hands-on support with daily routines as needed.
Communication:
Acting as a supportive bridge in social situations and encouraging positive interactions. Ideally a candidate that would have similar interests as Daniel i.e. films, including marvel, Star Wars, DC movies, a vast amount of TV programmes [although this is not essential].
Experience:
Previous experience working with individuals with SEN, cerebral palsy, autism, or learning disabilities is preferred.
Reliability: A trustworthy, punctual, and adaptable individual with good communication skills.
Requirements:
A clean enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check (or willingness to obtain one) and a full driver’s licence with access to a reliable vehicle is a strong plus.
About the Role
You will support a friendly young adult who has cerebral palsy, epilepsy, autism and SEN to attend Step and Stone Bristol based bakery which makes handmade lavash flatbreads, biscotti and cheese biscuits with a social purpose. Step & Stone works with adults with learning differences helping to develop their skills and confidence, so they can eventually find meaningful employment.
As a support worker you will work alongside him in the bakery in The Park Centre, Knowle, Bristol, encouraging independence as much as possible. You will be working under the direction of our Bakery Leads and you should encourage him to ask them what his tasks are for the day.
Support in the bakery will include
- Assisting with getting ready for work (tying aprons, encouraging hand washing etc)
- Working alongside him during the production of the bakery products, this may be step-by-step prompting, verbal support or just keeping an eye. The support given should be appropriate for his needs.
- Helping with weighing, identifying numbers and following the recipe.
- Encouraging independent working.
- Building confidence and positive work skills
- Supporting at break/lunchtimes to promote social skills e.g. encouraging conversations.
