About the People's Voice Team
 
It is important for all Disabled People to have a voice.  Sometimes people get left out because they cannot understand what is going on.  
 
 Bristol City Council and Bristol Disability Equality Organisations want everyone to have a voice.  However, there is no group like this in Bristol right now.  
 
 The People's Voice Team will find out what kind of group people want.  They will help to make it happen.  

We already have three project workers involved in the project.  This job is for their research support worker.  Your job is to support the Disabled People with Learning Difficulties.  

The job is until 31st March 2023  

Rate of Pay: £15.00 per hour

Hours: 7.5 hours each week

Where: The job is based in Bristol.  The group sessions will be at City Hall and the rest will be all over Bristol.

The person we are looking for

Someone who is keen to get people’s voices heard.  You may have worked with disabled people before and know how to step back when needed.  Flexibility is essential.

Someone who is good at explaining words that are difficult and can make ‘Easy Read’ information or Plain English.  

Someone who is respectful of people and is kind and patient.  

Someone who is good at researching and communicating with other people. 

This is what you would do in the job 

You will support the project workers

Their main job is to find out what sort of group other Disabled People with Learning Difficulties in Bristol want and to come up with a plan.  

The project team has been running since September 2022 and have planned the research project out fully.

You will help the project workers to run a survey, conduct interviews and run focus groups.  

You will be supported on this so knowledge about these methods is not essential.

You will help the project workers talk to Disabled People with learning difficulties one-one. 

You will help the team to think about what they have been told.

What support will the support worker get? 

Megan Belcher from Bristol City Council, and Val Williams from Norah Fry Centre at the University, have helped to set this project up.  They will support you on a week by week basis, You can check in with them regularly. 

Victoria Mason and Lauren Blood from the National Development Team for Inclusion, will work with the whole team to help people plan the research and learn research skills.
