• Ideally, you will be enthusiastic and passionate about working with children with complex needs and have experience from a similar role.  It is equally important to have a positive attitude and a happy and caring nature.  We need a team of Personal Support Workers who aren’t afraid to get involved and are happy to complete the full training which is essential to support him with his many complex health needs.  Any experience of Autism would also be an advantage. 
   
• Creativity: We’re looking for someone who can think on their feet and isn’t afraid to pitch in when needed. If you have a creative mindset and an understanding of how to adapt activities to needs, this is the perfect role for you. 
   
• Supervision & Safety: Constant supervision will be needed and always on a 2:1 basis due to his complex needs to keep him safe.  He is unsafe without support and has no danger awareness.  He has SPD and will display sensory-seeking behaviours which you will need to recognise and distract him to safety.  Due to often being unsteady on his feet he will regularly use his wheelchair to access the community.  It is very important to follow routines which are familiar to him for his sense of security. 
   
• Healthcare Needs: These will be discussed fully at interview and include an explanation of the training you will need to complete. 
   
• Personal Care: You will be required to attend to all his personal care needs. 
   
• Transport: A car owner/driver is essential and must be insured for business use. 
   
• Respect Confidentiality: This is an essential requirement.  
   
• Enhanced Certificate of Disclosure (DBS): Cost to be met by Employer.
