"Looking for a mature person (preferably a lady) to enable and support a lady (age 77) from the Bedlington area. She has mobility issues and uses a bariatric wheelchair (only uses when out and about). The Lady has a learning disability and limited hearing and speech. She likes watching TV such as films (John Wayne, Doris Day etc), she also likes to watch darts and snooker etc (likes Bullseye). She enjoys going to the cinema, bowling (disabled friendly), getting her nails painted. Also enjoys having lunch out. Can go via taxi or mileage paid for outings.  Hours are Mondays 10:30am till 3:30pm and Thursdays 10:30am till 3:30pm. Personal needs care is a must."  The successful candidates will take a person-cantered approach to care, supporting the client’s independence, well-being, and choices, while providing essential personal, social, and domestic care when required. 

 Main Duties: Working 10 hours a week over 2 days a week to support her while getting out and about in her local community with her nutrition, personal care and mobility needs as she is unable to do this for herself. As well as socialising by taking a person-centred approach while encouraging her to engage in any activities or interests this lady chooses.  The role requires close personal contact with an individual who is extremely vulnerable to the risk of infection and disease transmission. Preference may be given to applicants who have been fully vaccinated against Covid-19. Careful consideration will be given to applicants who can show the vaccination is not suitable for them on reasonable grounds. 

Rate of Pay |  £13.74 per hour

Weekly Hours – Mondays and Thursdays 10.30am till 3.30pm = 10 hours a week

Personal specification: Car driver preferred. Calm, patient, fun, honest and reliable, and with a caring nature.  Punctual, trustworthy and able to respect confidentiality.  Have a happy positive outlook and an outgoing personality          Ability to both take instructions and use own initiative.   Experience in health & social care desirable – awareness of learning disabilities, dementia care, autism and mental health needs.     

Further Information:  An Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service Certificate (DBS) will have to be obtained for the successful candidate (at employer’s expense).

Training: Where it is required, such as in Health and Safety matters, practical training and guidance will be arranged, and the care workers will be expected to attend. This will include safeguarding Adults/children’s, moving and handling, medication awareness and any additional training specific to the client.
