UKCIL Personal Support Workers Required 2:1 Support
We are looking for dedicated, reliable and fun individuals to join a small team supporting a young man with learning difficulties in the Stocksfield area.

He is non verbal and communicates using gestures and a communication book. He also has sensory and emotional needs, along with some complex and unpredictable behaviours. One important thing to note is that he has a strong fear of dogs, whether they are on or off a lead.

He enjoys getting out and about in the community and taking part in activities. Previously he was very active and enjoyed things like going out for food 🍔, gym sessions 🏋️, swimming 🏊, walks 🌳, horse riding 🐎, trampolining, kayaking 🚣 and cycling 🚲.
He also enjoys cafés and restaurants ☕, as well as creative activities like arts, crafts and woodwork.

The aim of this role is to support him to rebuild confidence and re engage in activities he enjoys.
Hours are flexible around school attendance and will be discussed at interview.

Main Duties
You will provide person centred support, helping to build independence, confidence and life skills. This includes
 Supporting with behaviour in a calm and positive way
 Encouraging social interaction and participation in activities
 Helping with decision making and developing life skills
 Supporting with toileting and meal preparation
 Promoting safety awareness and positive choices
About You

 Able to follow guidance but also use initiative
A confident personality is important to support this young person to overcome fears and anxieties, while ensuring he can access community spaces safely and comfortably.
A car driver is essential 

Experience in health and social care is helpful, particularly knowledge of learning disabilities, autism and mental health, but not essential as training will be provided.

Further Information
An Enhanced DBS check will be required for the successful candidate at the employer’s expense.
Full training will be provided where needed, including safeguarding, moving and handling, and any client specific training.
