A family in the Kielder area is looking to expand their team of caring and dedicated personal care assistants to support their mum. Assistance is required seven days a week, covering morning, afternoon, and evening calls, both in her home and in the local community.
The successful candidates will take a person-centred approach, promoting her independence, well-being, and choices while providing essential personal, social, and domestic care. She enjoys cooking and baking, going for short walks, listening to music ranging from Elvis Presley to Status Quo, watching classic TV programmes such as Casualty, and doing crosswords and puzzles.
Main Duties: The role involves supporting an older lady with significant health and mobility needs, acting as a second person/personal care assistant. Tasks include helping with getting in and out of bed, toileting, showering, meal preparation, feeding, administering medication, and providing social support. You will encourage her to engage in activities she enjoys, always taking a person-centred approach.
The role requires close personal contact with someone extremely vulnerable to infection and disease transmission. Preference may be given to applicants fully vaccinated against Covid-19, though reasonable considerations will be made for those unable to be vaccinated.
Personal Specification:
- Driving licence preferred.
- Calm, patient, caring, honest, reliable, and fun.
- Punctual, trustworthy, and able to maintain confidentiality.
- Positive, happy outlook with an outgoing personality.
- Able to follow instructions and use initiative.
- Experience in health and social care desirable, with awareness of learning disabilities, autism, or mental health needs.
Further Information: The successful candidate will need an Enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) certificate, which will be obtained at the employer’s expense. Training will be provided as required, including safeguarding adults and children, moving and handling, medication awareness, and any client-specific guidance.
