Job Description and Personal Specification
A 67 year-old retired professional man in the Alnwick area is looking to recruit carers to support him within the family home. He has been diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease which means he has restricted mobility, episodes of very low blood pressure and some periods of confusion.
The family are looking for care workers who are easy going and able to provide care and companionship, supporting his independence and self-esteem.
He has in the past been very active and enjoyed gardening, outdoor activities and country pursuits. He still benefits from ‘pottering’ in the garden and a brief walk each afternoon. He enjoys company but becomes fatigued very quickly.
He requires supervised and frequent medication (all taken by mouth).
Hours of work: 30 to 40 hrs a week. Flexibility will be required to meet the work commitments of the family. Days and times to be discussed at interview.
Rates of Pay: £11.91 per hour
Location: Alnwick area
Main Duties: Include a breakdown of tasks that will be required/main duties Supportwith some personal care if/when necessary, some light meal preparation, support around medication, pain management and mental health while helping to reduce the risk of falls. Support to take place initially in the home and then progress to accessing groups and clubs within his local community.
The role requires close personal contact with an individual who is vulnerable to the risk of infection and disease transmission. Only candidates who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 will be considered.

Calm, patient and understanding
Honest, reliable, punctual, and trustworthy.
Have a happy positive caring nature, with an outgoing personality
Ability to both take instructions and use own initiative.
Experience in health & social care desirable – experience in working with people with both physical and mental health needs
Respect for confidentiality is a must.
Further Information: An Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service Certificate (DBS) will have to be obtained for the successful candidate (at employer’s expense).
Training: Where it is required, such as in Health and Safety matters, practical training and guidance will be arranged and the care worker will be expected to attend. This will include moving and handling, medication awareness and additional training specific to the client.
