A loving family in Cramlington is seeking a Personal Care Assistant to support their happy one-year-old son, who enjoys play, interaction and spending time with those around him. This is an opportunity to become an important part of a dedicated support team, helping him remain safe, comfortable, and well cared for in his family home.
This role involves providing overnight support, with opportunities for additional overnight and occasional evening hours. You will work closely with the family to meet his complex healthcare needs while ensuring he can enjoy his daily routines, play and family life.
Responsibilities include:
• Providing overnight care, supervision, and reassurance
• Administering feeds and medication via NJ tube (subject to change following PEGJ surgery)
• Supporting personal care, including nappy changes
• Carrying out suctioning via tracheostomy, mouth and nose as required
• Supporting safe handling and transfers
• Engaging in age-appropriate play and interaction
• Monitoring wellbeing and communicating effectively with parents regarding his care
We are looking for someone who is patient, trustworthy, and comfortable working independently. Experience supporting children with complex medical needs, tracheostomy care, enteral feeding, or medication administration would be beneficial, although full specialist training will be provided for the right candidate.
Hours Available
• Minimum 12 hours per week as one overnight shift
• Additional overnight cover available
• Occasional evening support hours may also be available
Essential Requirements
• Enhanced DBS check for the Child Workforce (funded if required)
• Full UK driving licence
• Willingness and ability to drive a mobility vehicle if needed
• Ability to safely support a growing child with moving and handling tasks
• Commitment to undertaking specialist training
