We are looking for a positive, mature and experienced Personal Assistant to join an existing colleague in supporting a remarkable young woman on a 2:1 basis.
This is a rewarding opportunity to provide dedicated support to a non-verbal teenager with complex needs who has developed her own unique sign language to communicate. Imagine not having a voice to express your thoughts, feelings, wants and needs. As you can appreciate, this can sometimes lead to frustration and distress, which may result in behaviours such as self-injury.
The ideal candidate will be patient, attentive and able to provide focused, distraction-free support while building a trusting and meaningful relationship. With a love of the outdoors, adventures and new experiences, this young lady enjoys getting out and about. You will work alongside another PA to support her in accessing the community and enjoying short breaks at Golden Sands Resort.
Support is ideally required on weekdays, although flexibility to work weekends would be welcomed for the right candidate.
The role will initially offer a minimum of 8 hours per week, increasing to 16 hours per week as the support package develops. As your relationship grows and trust is established, you will develop effective strategies that make a genuine and lasting difference to this young lady's quality of life, while also providing invaluable support to her loving family.
Applicants must be aged 25 or over and hold a full, clean driving licence, as driving the Motability vehicle will be an essential part of ensuring safe and comfortable travel.
