Part-time Personal Care Assistants Required 

Part-time Care Assistants required (male and female carers needed) to support a (physically) disabled woman with severe Athetoid Cerebral Palsy in the Crosby, Liverpool L23 area.

The job will consist of providing personal care, meeting the individual’s complex needs and supporting the individual with their social/domestic activities.

All aspects of personal care work involved.

Must be caring, enthusiastic, patient, reliable, flexible, willing to learn and have a positive attitude. 

There are no formal qualifications for this role, as all relevant/tailored training will be provided.

An enhanced DBS check will be carried out, the cost will be met by the Employer.

A minimum of 16-24 hours per week, based on a 7 day rota system (with the future / potential option of increasing the number of hours to 40hrs per week) - please specify the number of hours you're looking for on your application.  

Starting rate £14 per hour.  Annual leave per year pro rata.

Nature of the Job
The Personal Care Assistant’s role is to provide a good quality of personal care, in accordance to the individual’s specified requirements and support the individual with their social and domestic activities, both in the home and out and about, as detailed within this job description.
 
Personal Care Assistants should appreciate that good communication is vital to understanding the needs of the Employer and the tasks and responsibilities expected of the Personal Care Assistant may vary from time to time to meet the needs of the individual.
 
Day-to-Day Support 
1.      Carry out all aspects of personal care according to the individual’s specified requirements 
2.      Understanding how being in constant spasm and pain affects the individual and the importance of carrying out manual handling/lifting in a safe and efficient manner
3.      Understanding how the individual communicates 
4.      Supporting the individual with computer related tasks and projects 
5.      Supporting the individual to go out and about
6.      Accompanying to appointments and social/other meetings
7.      Enabling the individual to carry out any chosen activity, whether inside or outside their home, by carrying out any other requests which they may reasonably make
8.      Assisting with other daily tasks as and when required
 
Personal Care Support
·         Support with all aspects of personal care as required by the individual including washing, bathing, dressing, toileting, cleaning teeth, combing hair, feeding, drinking, cleaning glasses etc.  
·         Assisting with moving, manual lifting and handling in/out of various equipment
·         Carrying out daily physiotherapy and stretches 
·         Making sure the individual is in the right position in wheelchair, toilet chair and in the sling when used 
·         Making sure the individual is comfortable/presentable and their clothes are straight and not twisted
·         Making sure utensils, aprons, cloths and cups are cleaned after use  
 
Health Care Tasks
·         Checking skin for potential pressure sores
·         Dressing feet with lint and gel products 
·         Preventing/removing hard skin 
·         Applying creams 
·         Cut and file nails
·         Administer medication 
  
General Tasks
·         Keep office/bedroom, wheelchair, toilet chair and other equipment clean and tidy
·         Maintaining the equipment, checking it’s working, tight and not damaged 
·         Setting up computers and associated equipment 
·         Assisting with computer related tasks i.e. typing, moving the mouse, putting discs in/out and putting paper in printer etc. 
·         Assisting with organisation of cupboards and files
·         Putting CDs in CD player and cleaning them
·         Carrying communication aid/laptop around and keeping them safe/clean while out
