Personal Assistant (Direct Payment) – Female Only

Location: [Ashill, Norfolk]
Hours: [16-20 hours per week – flexible, agreed rota]
Pay: £15 per hour
Employer: Disabled woman (Direct Payment employer)

A disabled woman with severe ME/CFS, who is housebound and bed bound at almost all times, is seeking a female Personal Assistant (Schedule 9, P1 of the Equality Act 2010 applies.) to provide domestic support, intimate personal care,including menstrual assistance and general housekeeping.

Support needs fluctuate from day to day. Reliability, calmness, patience and consistency are essential. All duties must be carried out at a slow, gentle, unhurried pace in line with an energy‑limiting condition.
Position managed by Employer's husband on behalf of the employer.
The position comes with a regular 4-week shift pattern with the majority of shifts taking place during school hours.
Weekend availability every other weekend is essential.
Employer holidays are usually taken during school holidays, which may benefit school-age parents.

Duties include:

General housework (cleaning, laundry, tidying, changing bedding)
Preparing simple meals and drinks
Maintaining a calm, low‑stimulation home environment
Intimate personal care, including washing, dressing, and toileting (essential)

Applicant requirements:

Female applicants only (genuine occupational requirement due to intimate care. Schedule 9, P1 of the Equality Act 2010 applies.)
Kind, reliable, and trustworthy.
Comfortable providing intimate personal care
Calm and patient, comfortable in quiet environments
Able to work under own initiative
Willing to learn about ME/CFS
Previous PA or care experience welcome but not essential
Must like dogs - we have a friendly family dog
