About Me : I am a creative, 38 year old, woman who suffers from Complex Disability and Neurodiversity, living independently in North London. I am looking for the right people to help me achieve a good quality of life and to also enable me to be able to do some of the things I love.
As well as creative pursuits, some of my favourite things are gaming, anime, manga, puzzle books, reading, binge watching shows, art therapy, and listening to podcasts. I also love to travel whenever possible although I haven’t been able to for many years now, as I have not had the support to allow me to do so. Hopefully you will help change that :-)
Duties & Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Preparing, cooking, & serving meals, including sometimes for me and guests.
- Carrying out all aspects of cleaning, laundry, shopping, running errands, and other domestic tasks for all inside and outside spaces.
- Carrying out some light administration such as assisting with appointment booking.
- Helping me access the local community.
- Carrying out intimate, personal care including washing, dressing, applying makeup, grooming, and other aspects associate with personal care.
- Accompanying me to social activities and various appointments when required.
- Carrying out Physiotherapist provided passive movement exercises.
- Carrying out role wherever I am located i.e. whilst travelling or on holiday.
- Carrying out safe, manual handling and assistance with transferring, pushing a wheelchair, and other tasks of this nature including being able to lift, bend, stretch, push, and pull a person.
- Assisting with and administering medication.
Essential criteria:
- Must have Right to Work in the UK and Please note, job will NOT provide Sponsorship and will NOT be Cash in Hand.
- Full, clean Driving Licence and Own Car able to accommodate a Wheelchair/Electric Scooter is Essential.
- Must be located in or close to the Islington area.
- Ability to Travel both in the UK and Abroad (with expenses covered) is Essential.
- The use or possession of Meta Glasses or any Smart Glasses/other covert recording devices are NOT permitted in my home, when you are in my presence, or during your assigned working hours. Personal devices are only permitted for use during breaks and should never be used to record me or in any part of my home inside or outside without my knowledge or consent. They must be stored securely away at all times outside of breaks and the “repeated calls” feature may be utilised in the event of emergencies, as both Android and IOS have this feature available.
- Good spoken and written English, Thai would also be advantageous, but is not a deal breaker.
- Able to work late, non-conventional hours.
- Open, honest, and non-judgemental, including being respectful and accepting of life choices that may not be the same as your own.

- Understanding and patient.
- Experience and/or ability to take care of and maintain mixed raced, temperamental, curly hair!
- A good sense of humour.
- Strong organisational skills.
- Knowledge and awareness of Neurodiversity, Chronic Illnesses, and Sleep Disorders (especially ME/CFS, EDS, DSPD, OSA, Autism, ADHD and OCD).
- Be able to learn/recognise when I am becoming overwhelmed/overstimulated/experiencing sensory overload and at risk of shutting/melting down and need to decompress/be removed from the cause/need time and space to process.
- Awareness and sensitivity for survivors of different types of abuse and trauma.
- Willing and able to provide individually tailored support based on my specific disability and needs.
- Exceptional attention to detail and ability to follow complex instructions.
- Respectful of my right to privacy, dignity, confidentiality, and autonomy.
- The right to live and work in the UK without sponsorship.
- Be willing to undergo an Enhanced DBS check and provide verifiable references.
Desirable:
- Previous experience as a PA or in a similar role with appropriate transferable skills.
- Knowing what the “Spoon Theory” is and how it relates to some individuals that live with Complex Disability and/or Neurodiversity.
About you :
- Non-smoker (including vaping).
- Happy to handle and prepare all kinds of meat, fish, and seafood (including pork and shellfish).
- Be comfortable assisting me in social situations where alcohol is served (pubs for example).
- Respectful and accepting of all races, religions, and LGBTQIA+ individuals.
- Full, clean driving licence with own car and ability to transport a wheelchair and/or a mobility scooter.
- Pet friendly.
- Lives in London within easy commute of my home before starting work, with a willingness to relocate and/or potentially become part or full-time, live-in PA in future.
Pay and Benefits :
Hourly rate £13.85 gross per hour
Paid Annual Leave: 5.6 weeks per year (pro rata)
The Care is double-handed, meaning you will be working with another person and there are 2 PA roles available for 20hrs a week each at present, as well as the ability to sign up as a potential Bank Shift Carer to cover the main staff when they are not in. The hours are due to increase, so if you are not able to work more than 20hrs per week, this role will not be suitable for you. There will also be overnight and travel care required, so please consider whether that is suitable for you when applying for this role.
At the moment the hours will be split as 4 hour shifts, 5 days a week with 2 consecutive days off to be covered by Bank Shift/Cover Staff. The days off are not guaranteed to be fixed or weekend days, as it will depend on what works for the availability of all involved.
(Bank Staff will be recruited primarily to cover things such as days off, short term cover, and annual leave on an ad hoc, ongoing basis)
