Personal Assistant / Support Worker Needed – Weekend & School Holiday Hours

We are seeking a kind, energetic and reliable Personal Assistant to support a happy 14‑year‑old young man with autism who is deaf and uses gestures/BSL and a VOCA to communicate. He enjoys swimming and water-based activities, travelling on public transport (especially trains), and accessing community activities to build appropriate social interactions.

Hours:

Term time: 5 hours per week on one weekend day (single 5‑hour block)
School holidays (excluding summer): 10 hours per week – Tuesday & Thursday or split across two days
Summer holidays: 15 hours per week – Tuesday & Thursday or split across two days

The role includes:

Support accessing community and leisure activities
Making outings fun, engaging and safe
Providing personal care, including support with incontinence
Encouraging independence and social interaction at an appropriate level

About you:

Have life experience and good risk/safety awareness
Essential experience supporting children with autism
Experience with deaf or non‑verbal children is advantageous but not required
Physically able to support active outings such as swimming
Patient, caring and confident
No driver required

An Enhanced DBS and references will be necessary.
