LOCATION Our own home and in the wider community
PURPOSE OF JOB
I am looking for a Personal Assistant to help my daughter take part in the activities she enjoys while helping to develop her social skills and increase her confidence. Activities she enjoys include swimming, autism friendly cinema, going to the park, art, visiting McDonalds and baking. Sessions may take place out in the community or at our home.
You should have experience of working with autism and an enthusiastic attitude to support work. You should be open to learning new things and engaging my daughter in new activities. Reliability is very important as I am looking for this to be a long term arrangement which will allow my daughter to build a connection with her PA. You must be able to drive and have your own vehicle.
Training in areas such as challenging behaviour and intensive interactions would be beneficial but is by no means essential. Paid training in these areas will also be offered to you through Leeds CIL.
SUPERVISION
My PA will be directed by and accountable to me in all aspects of their work. He/She must always ask what I require and not make assumptions about any aspect of the assistance I need or how it should be carried out. He/She should not carry out tasks unless we have first discussed it.
ESSENTIAL
- Experience of working with autistic people
- Driving licence and own car
MAIN DUTIES
You will be required to do the following tasks and may be asked to carry out other tasks of a similar nature:
- Support my daughter take part in the activities she enjoys both in the community and at home
- Ensure she is safe and secure at all times
- Encourage her to try new activities as and when appropriate
