ABOUT ME
I am a Disabled woman with a number of physical and sensory impairments. I am an academic in my 40s and live with my partner in the Burley area (LS4).
I am looking for PA support to assist me with my independent living and facilitating my participation in the local community and beyond, while respecting professional boundaries and confidentiality issues. This would be initially for 2 hours per week flexible, with possibility of more hours when required, to be arranged on a weekly basis. Work will be mostly weekdays, with occasional weekends by arrangement. Driver with car preferred, but not essential, mileage paid at £0.45 per mile.
MAIN DUTIES
I would like assistance with the following duties. Sometimes the PA will be required to complete these tasks under my instruction, and at other times facilitate me in completing them independently.
Shopping, cooking, washing dishes, housework (vacuum cleaning, mopping), handwash, ironing, organising clothing, changing beds.
Reading out letters and documents, typing and reading emails, searching online, filling in forms, organising papers, helping with banking tasks, booking appointments, communicating on the phone, and arranging transport.
Helping me with makeup and hair for going out and checking general appearance.
- Assistance in wider community
Accompany me to attend hospital or dentist appointments. I will also need you to accompany me to social events on occasion.
The PA must:
- Undertake relevant training as required,

- Respect my belonging, property and premises at all times.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
Trustworthy and reliable,
- Physically capable to perform tasks required (lifting, moving etc.),
- Friendly, supportive, discreet and co-operative,
- Ability to communicate clearly, confidently and effectively,
- Ability to work confidently with or without direct supervision,
- Patient, flexible and adaptable to change,
- Clean and neat appearance,
- Maintain professional demeanour,
- Understanding and sensitivity towards others,
- Understanding of the need for confidentiality in all areas of work including total respect for my privacy and possessions,
- Willingness to learn the job and be trained in use of equipment if required.
SUPERVISION
My personal assistant will be directed by and is accountable to me in all aspects of work. They will ask what is required and not make assumptions about what I need.
