To support a young woman to access social and recreational activities in the community.
Location: Harleston, IP20.

Friendly and experienced Personal Assistant required to support a young woman with a severe learning disability and mobility support needs.
I am looking for a Personal Assistant to support my 23 year-old daughter with all daily living tasks and accessing social activities outside out of the home and beyond her family support circle. ‘J’ loves being with people and enjoys going out to cafes and pubs which are full of life. She is very sociable and will talk to anyone, although she finds it difficult to be understood as she will only use say one word at a time.
Duties to include:
- Organising recreational activities and days out and accompanying ‘J’ on these trips to provide her with opportunities to access the community regularly.
- Supporting ‘J’ to interact with people her own age and maintain friendships.
- Ensuring ‘J’ is safe on day trips, e.g. safeguarding and road safety awareness.
- Prompting ‘J’ to manage her nutrition and fluid intake.
- Supporting with personal care as required, including continence management.
- Any other reasonable duties as required.

Essential
- Must be female as personal care is involved.
- Experience caring for clients who can present with challenging behaviour.
- Driving license holder with own vehicle and business insurance cover essential.
- Must be comfortable working in a home with cats.
- Friendly and chatty.
- Patient and caring approach towards others.
Desirable
- Experience supporting young adults.
- Experience supporting clients with learning disabilities.
Summary terms and conditions
- The rate of pay for this position is £12.50 per hour
- You will be reimbursed for any agreed expenses incurred as part of the role
- Hours and times of work: 4 hours per week on either a Saturday or a Sunday. To be discussed further at interview.
The post is subject to the following
- A satisfactory enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check, the cost of which will be covered by the employer.
- Satisfactory references from two referees, one of which must be your current or last employer.
- Completion of a satisfactory probationary period of 3 months.
