Personal Assistant (Temporary) - Support for a Young Boy with Autism
Hours: 4 hours term-time and 8 hours in school holiday weeks
Rate of Pay: £14.67

Employment Type: Temporary position to cover a long-term absence
We are looking for a caring, reliable and enthusiastic Personal Assistant to provide 2:1 support for a lovely 7-year-old boy with autism, communication difficulties and sensory needs. This is a temporary role to cover the long-term absence of an existing PA.
You will work alongside an experienced Personal Assistant to support him in accessing activities, having fun and staying safe. He enjoys spending time outdoors, especially playing in the garden and with water. He loves watching Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and his favourite characters are Donald Duck, Goofy and Pluto. He is also very curious and enjoys exploring how things work, particularly toys with removable parts.
The successful applicant will support him to communicate his needs and wishes, as he is unable to do so verbally. He requires constant close supervision at all times due to having no awareness of danger and to ensure his safety and wellbeing.
Main Duties
• Provide 2:1 support alongside an existing PA
 • Support communication and understanding of his needs
 • Encourage play, learning, and enjoyable activities at home and in the community
 • Ensure his safety through constant supervision and support
 • Assist with personal care, including nappy changing
 • Follow established routines and approaches to support his wellbeing
 • Support with meals and snacks in line with his dietary requirements
We Are Looking for Someone Who Is
• Kind, patient and reliable
 • Understanding of autism and sensory needs, or willing to learn
 • Able to work as part of a small support team
 • Observant and responsive to non-verbal communication
 • Committed to providing safe, person-centred support
 • Comfortable assisting with personal care
Additional Information
• No medication administration is required for this role.
 • Training and guidance will be provided where necessary.
 • This role is subject to the appropriate employment checks.
