Personal Assistant / Support Worker – Colwyn Bay – part time - £15/hour - Colwyn Bay - LL29

Job Reference (611200a0)

A warm, practical role supporting an older woman to live independently at home.
The Opportunity
We are looking for a kind, reliable and patient Personal Assistant to join a small, friendly team of existing PAs supporting an older woman in her own home.

The position is initially required to cover an existing PA who will be on planned medical leave for approximately two to three months, with the possibility of becoming permanent for the right person.

Working Arrangement
The role may be offered either as PAYE employment or, where the working arrangement genuinely meets the relevant criteria, on a self-employed basis.

About the Role
The work is based mainly at the employer’s home and will include:

• Supporting with personal care, toileting, dressing and showering when needed.
• Preparing meals and encouraging adequate food and fluid intake.
• Prompting medication and prescribed exercises.
• Helping with laundry, shopping, everyday household tasks, bins and recycling.
• Providing companionship and sometimes accompanying her on walks, outings or activities.
• Helping her prepare safely in the morning or at bedtime, depending on the shift.
• Checking that her mobile phone and fall-detection watch are charged.
• Writing a few brief notes about the support provided during each visit.

The emphasis is on supporting independence, choice and confidence rather than taking over tasks unnecessarily. Full guidance, training and a detailed information pack will be provided.

About You

You should be:

• Kind, patient, trustworthy and dependable.
• Punctual, observant and able to follow agreed guidance.
• Comfortable providing respectful personal care when needed.
• Able to maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality.
• Willing to work flexibly as part of a small PA team.
• Committed to promoting dignity, choice and independence.
• Comfortable working in a non-smoking household.

Essential experience: Previous care experience is essential, with at least five years’ experience required.

A driving licence is useful but not essential. Anyone using their own vehicle for work must have appropriate business-use insurance.

Pay and Conditions

• £15 per hour.
• Approximately 5–15 hours per week, depending on your availability and the needs of the PA team.
• For PAYE employees: paid annual leave, workplace pension and Statutory Sick Pay where eligibility requirements are met.
• For genuinely self-employed PAs: travel allowance for anyone living more than five miles away.
• Role-specific guidance and support within a friendly, welcoming environment.

Appointment or engagement will be subject to satisfactory references, evidence of the right to work in the UK and an appropriate DBS check.

How to Apply
Please send a short message explaining:
• Your relevant experience or interest in the role.
• The days and times you are generally available.
• How many hours you are looking for, and when you could start.
• Whether you have a driving licence and access to a car.
