Personal Assistant required to support a young man In LS14@£12.60 per hr - Leeds - LS14
Job Reference (75abe063)
Can you spare 7 hours on a weekday during term time and during the school holidays, to support a
16 yr old to access community activities and to develop his independence.
A Personal Assistant (P.A.) is required in the Seacroft/Roundhay area to support my son who has a diagnosis of Autism, social and communication difficulties, sensory processing, and severe learning disabilities, as well as hypermobility, in accessing local community activities. He requires support with some personal cares i.e prompting but generally is independent with personal care.
He is a happy boy who is verbal but only likes to speak when he chooses to and he is very pleasant. He loves going to airports and bus and train stations and likes filming the buses while they are stationary or as they pass by. He also likes going on the buses and trains but doesn’t like it when it is too crowded so prefers to go when its quieter. He also likes going to the local park but dislikes playing in the park as they are usually too busy. He must be closely supervised at all times due to his tendency of running off, potential challenging behaviours, and having no sense of danger and road safety etc. He requires a P.A. for a total of 7 hours a week during term time, and 7 hours during school holidays, work flexibly on mostly weekday evenings, but can also be required to work at weekends. The working days can be flexible; however, Charlie likes to have a routine, and therefore punctuality and stability are essential in this role.
Experience of having worked with children as well as young people with Special Educational Needs (S.E.N.) is preferable. This would include some knowledge, experience and support strategies of S.E.N. that are essential in the following areas: thinking, understanding and learning, emotional and behavioural difficulties, speech, language and communication, sensory and/or physical difficulties.
Holiday Entitlement: You will be entitled to holiday’s on a PRO RATA basis.
This is a great opportunity to share meaningful experiences with Charlie, enhance your C.V. and develop your skills for your future career.
