Job Description:  Social care work opportunity for a Personal Assistant. Listed below are details of the job and what tasks are involved. It is advisable to refer to these when submitting your application and advise of the days/hours you are available.
 
I am a 19 year old male with a learning disability, ADHD and mental health conditions. I live with my parents, younger brother, dog and two cats.  I am looking for a calm, reliable and supportive Personal Assistant to support me mainly at home and to provide respite for my family. I benefit from routine, patience and consistency. At times I can display challenging behaviour, so I need someone confident, resilient and able to provide reassurance.
 
You will work with me to build a trusting relationship, encourage communication, and support me to develop social and daily living skills.

I enjoy tending to the plants in my greenhouse, drawing, jigsaw puzzles, Lego, baking and playing on my PC.  I am also planning to build a cat house in the garden.
 
Location: Swaffham, PE37
 
-          Support with activities at home
-          6 hours on a Monday (start time flexible).
-          Assist with preparing a simple, healthy lunch 
-          Encourage basic household tasks including changing bedding and washing up after lunch
-          Support to choose appropriate clothing throughout the day
-          Initiate and encourage conversation to help build confidence and communication skills
 
Personal Specification
 
Essential: 
-          Friendly, calm and supportive approach
-          Reliable and patient
-          Confident in managing changeable moods and occasional challenging behaviour
-          Able to help de‑escalate situations sensitively
 
Desirable:
-          Awareness or training related to adult mental health needs
 
Summary Terms and Conditions
-          The rate of pay for this position is £12.38 per hour
-          Hours and times of work as follows: 6 hours on a Monday (times to be negotiated at interview).
-          The annual holiday entitlement for this position will be equivalent to the work I would normally expect to be done during 5.6 consecutive weeks.
-          Access to free Care Skills training for employed workers.
 
The post is subject to the following:
-          A satisfactory enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check, the cost of which will be covered by the employer.
-          Completion of a satisfactory probation period of 6 months.
