Hours:
- Wednesday mornings 6am-8am
- Monday mornings 6am-8am and afternoons 4pm-6pm
- Additional ad hoc weekend support available
Rate of Pay: £14.67 per hour
We are looking for a kind, caring and compassionate Personal Assistant to support a quiet, non-verbal young man who is completely dependent on others for his care and daily living needs.
This rewarding role involves providing personal care and supporting his daily routines at home before and after his days service. He is a gentle individual who communicates in his own way and benefits from carers who take the time to talk to him and involve him throughout their work.
Main Duties
Morning Support (from approximately 6am)
- Personal care including showering using specialist equipment
- Assisting with dressing and grooming
- Supporting with breakfast, drinks and medication
- Oral hygiene and facial care
- Preparing for transport to day services
Afternoon Support (from approximately 4pm)
- Meeting him on return from day services
- Personal care, changing and washing
- Moving him safely using a hoist
- Supporting him to settle comfortably at home
- Assisting with meals, drinks and medication
- Oral hygiene and evening personal care
Essential Requirements
Full UK driving license and access to a vehicle due to the client's location
Good communication skills
Reliable, patient and compassionate approach
Willingness to learn and follow support routines
Ability to work as part of a team and provide consistent care
Desirable Experience
Experience of supporting adults with complex physical disabilities
Experience using hoists and moving and handling equipment (training can be provided)
Additional Information
Additional hours may be available to cover annual leave and sickness. Weekend support may also be offered on an ad hoc basis.
