About the Employer / Umar
Umar is a lively and affectionate 5-year-old boy in Year 1 at a local school. He is energetic, curious, and expressive, with a love for numbers, toy cars, spinning (especially in his spinning seat), running, playing on swings, jumping on his trampoline, and exploring how things work. He also enjoys listening to Nasheed music and spending time with his family.
Umar is a very sweet and bright child, supporting him and earning his trust is a very rewarding experience. Carer’s and teachers describe him as a pleasure to work with.
Umar has Autism with high support needs and is currently non-verbal. He communicates through sounds and echolalia and is actively developing his communication skills with support from school. He can experience frustration, particularly around communication, which may lead to some behaviours that require calm, patient support to help him regulate. Umar does not have an understanding of Danger and the impact of his actions therefore needing to be constantly supervised.
Umar also has dietary restrictions due to allergies (including dairy and gluten). As a result, he follows a specific diet. He may sometimes attempt to take snacks from other children, so this requires gentle but consistent supervision and redirection.
