I am looking for a PA for my 17yr old teenager, to help them get out into the community more, to work toward becoming independent. We are initially looking for 15 hours a week (perhaps 3hours a day) to start as soon as possible.
Gabe has severe Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, severe Anxiety, Autistic Spectrum Disorder, and associated sensory issues. Gabe is a very warm, engaging, funny person, but their anxiety and OCD make it really difficult for them to go out, interact with people, and touch things. Normal social activities exhaust Gabe, and they can become overwhelmed. It is often difficult for Gabe to regulate their emotions.
Gabe has spent a lot of time in hospital in the last five years, and has missed most of their secondary school education. So Gabe has a lot of catching up to do! Gabe would love to get out into the community more, go to groups, and meet people, but because of their anxiety and difficulty touching things they need support to do this. Gabe is also intending to go back to college two or three days a week in September, and will need support getting to & from college. Gabe sometimes also needs prompting to manage daily tasks.
Gabe would like their PA to support them on outings into the community, and in getting to college. Gabe would like someone who is a non-smoker and is not allergic to cats. It would be helpful if you could drive and had your own vehicle. Some knowledge of Autism/Aspergers syndrome would help you in your role.
We would expect to pay mileage and reasonable expenses, on provision of receipts.
Currently, it would help if hours were flexible until we have a clearer idea of Gabe’s requirements.
