Job Purpose:
 
To support Joel with accessing activities that he enjoys in the community and city wide. To support Joel in trying new activities so that he can learn new skills and meet new people. 
 
About the employer:
 
Joel is a bubby and very energetic 6 year old boy. Joel likes playing with Lego and in the garden. 
 
Joel has Autism and has a number of allergies and carries an epi-pen with him should he need it. Joel also has asthma and might require a puff of an inhaler if he does lots of running around. 
 
Although Joel enjoys doing activities he can struggle to concentrate for more than 10 minutes, so likes lots of encouragement.
 
 
Main duties: 
 
Social duties:
● To support Joel in accessing the community and activities across Leeds
● To take Joel to the park, soft play, outdoor activities, trampoline park
● To support Joel in burning off his excess energy
● To support Joyce in taking Joel out to Christmas parties, performances or the cinema 
● To take Joel out for lunch
 
Personal care/health: 
● To administer Joel’s epi pen if he has a allergic reaction to something (training can be given)
● To support Joel in using his inhaler if he is struggling to breathe after doing lots of running (training can be given)
● To change Joel’s nappy if and when required 
 
Duties may vary from day to day.

What can you expect to receive: 
● Training can be given around administering Epi-pen’s and how to use Inhalers for Asthma 
● You will be supported by Joyce in getting to know Joel before taking him out into the community alone. 
● You will get to spend time with a lovey, fast paced and energetic little boy who loves life
 
 
Hours:
● 10 hours over the month with additional hours over school holidays. 
● Someone who is flexible with their time and who can commit to working during the week after school, weekends and school holidays. 
● Hours and times can be agreed upon starting 
 
Rate of pay 
● £12.40 per hour 
 
 
Skills, qualifications and experience
 
Essential:
● Some understanding of children with Autism and additional needs 
● Good mobility themselves and who is able to run around and be active 
● To have the ability to support Joel with behaviours that challenge and if he is dysregulated
● Resilience and commitment 
● Good communicator
● Want someone who is happy and outgoing like Joel. Who will chat
 
Desirable:
● Someone who can drive
