A friendly and independent 44-year-old woman living with Chronic Fatigue is seeking a reliable and compassionate Personal Assistant to provide practical support within her home.
The role will involve assisting with maintaining a safe, clean, and habitable home environment, and maintaining effective household systems and routines. Support will also be required with preparing healthy, nutritious meals and helping to ensure the home remains a safe and comfortable place to live.
While I do have children, I require someone who can take support me to take care of household upkeep and maintenance so that I have more capacity for my parenting responsibilities. Please note, one my children has additional needs, so being comfortable working around neurodiversity is advantageous.
Privacy and confidentiality are extremely important to my family and I would like a PA to understand the importance of this.
Duties:
- Support with domestic tasks, e.g. dusting, hoovering, changing bed linen, bathroom and kitchen cleaning
- Support to manage and maintain household systems and routines
- Support with meal planning and preparation
Person Specification
Essential:
- Reliable, trustworthy, and punctual.
- Good organisational skills and able to support with establishing household routines and systems.
- Able to prepare healthy, nutritious meals.
- Comfortable undertaking light domestic tasks to help maintain a safe and habitable home environment.
- Respectful of personal boundaries and able to promote independence.
- Understanding of the importance of privacy and confidentiality
Desirable:
- Previous experience as a Personal Assistant or similar role
- An understanding of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS/ME) or experience supporting someone with a long-term health condition.
- Experience with decluttering, home organisation, or establishing practical household systems.
- Knowledge of food preparation and meal planning.
Rate of Pay
£15.55 self employed
£12.89 employed
A higher hourly rate is available for self-employed carers, reflecting that they are responsible for their own holiday provision, National Insurance, pension arrangements, and other employment-related costs. Self-employed carers must also demonstrate that they are fully ensured, and registered with HMRC.
Employees receive these benefits through their employment package, which is reflected in the employed rate.

8 hours per week, shift schedule to be discussed at interview.

Expenses
You will be reimbursed for any reasonable and pre-approved expenses incurred in the course of carrying out your duties.
Where a personal vehicle is used to transport a service user and mileage reimbursement is to be claimed, this arrangement must be authorised in advance, documented within the service user's care plan, and processed in accordance with the organisation's payroll procedures.
Holiday Entitlement
Employees and workers in the UK are entitled to a minimum of 5.6 weeks' paid annual leave per year on an FTE basis. Part time roles will be calculated pro rata. Self-employed individuals are not entitled to statutory paid holiday leave, and any time off is unpaid unless they make their own financial arrangements.
Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS)
This post is subject to a satisfactory Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, which will be arranged and paid for by the employer.
Where children under the age of 18 live in the household, employment cannot commence within the family home until the DBS clearance has been received.

Probation Period
We recommend a three month probation period. The three-month probationary period gives both you and your employee the opportunity to ensure the role is a good fit, identify any training or support needs, and settle into the working relationship.
Mandatory Training
Where the duties of this role include food preparation, moving and handling, the use of hazardous substances (including household cleaning products), or the handling of medication, you will be required to complete any relevant mandatory training and competency assessments.
