About me
I am a 12-year-old girl living in Dereham, Norfolk. I have learning disabilities, autism, ADHD, epilepsy, and communication, social and emotional difficulties. I am looking for a calm, patient and enthusiastic Personal Assistant who can provide reliable one-to-one support.
I would like you to help me enjoy fun and engaging activities, become more involved in my local community and develop valuable skills. Your support will also provide important respite for my family.
How you will support me
Enjoying my community
I would like you to accompany me on enjoyable outings and activities, such as visiting the local park, going to soft play, swimming or taking part in other leisure activities.
Personal care
I will need your support with personal care, including toileting and pad changes.
Developing my skills
You will help me learn useful life skills through structured activities. This may include supporting me with cooking, light tidying and helping with the food shop twice a week.
Personal Specification: Listed below are the skills, competencies and qualities that are essential for the post. Our assessment of these, both on application and at the interview, will be the main factor in determining if you are successful. Please refer to these when submitting your application.
It is essential that you:
- Have experience supporting children with additional needs, autism and learning disabilities.
- Understand autism and ADHD.
- Have knowledge of epilepsy, including seizure management and emergency procedures.
- Are willing to complete the provided epilepsy, Health and Safety and GDPR training.
- Hold a qualification in Health and Social Care, Childcare or a related field, such as an NVQ Level 2 or 3.
- Have strong communication skills.
- Are reliable, calm, patient, energetic and enthusiastic.
A full UK driving licence and access to a reliable vehicle with business insurance are preferred, as this will help me access activities in the community.

Summary Terms and Conditions
· The rate of pay for this position is £16.00 per hour plus £0.45 per mile travel expenses.
· Hours and times of work: Consistent support is required, aiming for 5-7 hours every other Saturday or Sunday, plus a 5-7 hour day each week during the school holidays. Additional hours may be available, where deemed necessary.
· Other duties will be discussed if/when deemed appropriate but everything that will be expected will be explained prior to acceptance of the position.
· The annual holiday entitlement for this position will be equivalent to the work I would normally expect to be done during 5.6 consecutive weeks.
· Access to free training for employed workers.
· If this job requires: Manual Handling, Handling of Hazardous Chemicals and/or Food Handling you will be required to undertake annual training.
The post is subject to the following:
· A satisfactory enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check, the cost of which will be covered by the employer.
· Satisfactory references from two referees, one of which must be your current or last employer.
· Completion of a satisfactory probation period of 6 months.
