We are looking for an energetic personal assistant (PA) in Leeds 8 to support our energetic 10 year-old son to access activities in the community and at home when required.

our son needs 2:1, so we are seeking to recruit 2 PAs at least.

14 hours per week to be worked a by each PA on flexible terms with agreement with the employer. There will be also additional 10 hours available during school holidays.

Activities that he enjoys include trampolining, going to the park, swimming, and going to playgroup if the opportunity presents itself. Some occasional personal care may be required.
Our son often displays challenging behaviour. Therefore, experience of working with children with autism is essential. You must be mindful of the fact that he has very little awareness of danger when out and about; and it is important to have both eyes on him at all times and hold his hand particularly when crossing the road.

You must also have an ability to deal with difficult situations caused by his behaviour when they arise. Patience, understanding and trustworthiness are very important qualities which are essential in this role to do your job effectively.. He loves music so this position may be particularly attractive to someone with an interest in the piano or music more generally.

Ensure my son is supervised and safe at all times
Support my son with activities as discussed with me
Support my son to build their social skills

SUPERVISION

My personal assistant will be directed by and accountable to me in all aspects of their work. He / She must always ask what I require and not make assumptions about any aspect of the assistance I need or how it should be carried out. She should not carry out tasks unless we have first discussed it.
