Live-in care assistant for senior lady P/T (min. 2 wk shift) £800 p/w in Barnet EN5 - BARNET - EN5

Organised, car owner required to live with very independent widow who needs little or no personal care but rather, needs to be kept safe.

She broke her hip a couple of years ago and is not as steady on her feet as she would like to be. She is also not happy to be alone in the house having been used to having a husband always with her for over 70 years.

Someone who enjoys cooking,  baking and doing crosswords would be ideal. 

A typical day looks like this:
Morning - She gets up reasonably early and potters about in her dressing gown. She likes to put her washing on, feed the birds, make breakfast etc.  She may eat and read the paper in the kitchen or take them to her bedroom. 
She will come out of her room when she is dressed.  
She will do odd jobs and won't sit down unless you suggest a coffee and do a crossword.  
She needs someone to keep an eye and offer help where needed.  
Working as a team is the best way to relieve her of the risks involved with her trying to do everything herself.  
She wants to feel that she is still keeping her home in good order and you are just helping. 

Midday - Prepare a light snack around 1 pm (she will often say she is not hungry but if you put a small sandwich in front of her she will eat it).
She may go for a rest after lunch (not always but she feels better if she does get her feet up). 

Afternoon – Bake a cake or prepare the evening meal. Odd jobs like watering plants and dead heading flowers and general housekeeping.  Maybe get a jigsaw puzzle going and have a cup of tea. 

Evening – She likes to watch the chase at 5pm and eat around 6pm . She enjoys a game of Rummikub or crosswords until she goes to bed around 8.30 pm.

Family members will often visit and join in at coffee time in the morning or the evening meal and game.

You will have a double bedroom with its own small conservatory overlooking a lovely garden.
