We are looking for a caring, energetic and playful support worker to help a lovely 7-year-old boy with complex needs, including a rare genetic condition (Unbalanced Chromosome Translocation) that affects his health and development. He has vision impairment, mobility challenges and some food intolerances.
Although he is non-verbal, he has his own ways of communicating and responds well to patient, attentive support.
He is a fun-loving little boy who thrives on exploration and sensory experiences, whether that's a trip to the playground, a visit to soft play, splashing in water activities or getting stuck into messy play. Some support will also take place in the family home.

 • Someone active and happy to engage in play
 • Experience working with children with autism, complex needs or disabilities would be desirable
 • Someone who enjoys sensory activities and can encourage communication through play and interaction
 • Ability to plan and organise activities independently and keep him engaged through play, sensory activities and community outings
 • Reliable, flexible and able to follow guidance around care routines due to complex medical needs
 • Good communication skills, including discussing annual leave or holidays in advance to ensure care arrangements are in place
 • Comfortable using and pushing a wheelchair outdoors
 • Moving and handling experience would be an advantage, although training can be provided
 • Car driver essential
 • Own vehicle required
