Job Title: Personal Assistant(s) – 2 Roles Available
Hours Per Week: Combined 15hrs per week (7hrs & 8hrs preferable - job share)
Hourly rate: Monday – Friday: £9.43 per hour
Saturday & Sunday: £11.74 per hour
Location: At home in LS11 and in the local community
Purpose of the job:
We a seeking sociable, fun-loving and enthusiastic PA’s to support William at home and in the local community to maintain his independence.
The ideal candidate is compassionate, reliable and conscientious with a good sense of humour, they should be happy working on their own and be willing to go the extra mile. You should be friendly and approachable, sensitive, flexible and fun. Previous experience of care is not essential but is desirable.
Car driver with own transport is essential. Mileage will be compensated.
Shifts:
The family are looking for two PAs to share 15 hours per week (7hrs and 8hrs respectively). The shifts will be as follows:
· 1hr every morning – 9am-10am
· 2hrs on 4 afternoons per week – 1:30pm-3:30pm (Tues, Thurs, Sat & Sun)
Once candidates have been taken to interview, the share of the shifts will be confirmed based on availability. (The role may be 3 x 1hrs AM shifts and 2 x 2hrs PM shifts, and 4 x 1hrs AM shifts and 2 x 2hrs PM shifts.)
Main Duties:
The personal assistant will be required to do the following tasks and may be asked to carry out other tasks of a similar nature. I will inform them of which tasks need carrying out on a particular day.
AM Shifts:
· Prepare a nutritional breakfast and coffee based on Williams requests
· Clean up the kitchen following meal preparation
· Provide light domestic support around the house, including the bathroom and bedrooms
· Ensure all items are returned to their designated spot.
PM Shifts:
· Accompany William in to the community, visiting local amenities and social hubs
· Providing physical support to ensure William is safe when out of the home, which may include the use of a wheelchair
· Prepare an afternoon meal once returned home based on William’s request
· Clean up the kitchen following meal preparation & return all items to their designated spot.
PA’s will record any notes from their shift in the staff diary at William’s home.
Essential Requirements:
· Flexibility towards planned activities
· Enthusiasm and interest in William and his likes/dislikes
· Strong communication skills
· Previous experience as a PA, particularly supporting an individual with a visual impairment.
· Knowledge of safe practices for Moving & Handling.
The successful candidates will be required to undertake further online training for this role, including moving & handling, food hygiene and First Aid.
Supervision:
My personal assistant will be directed by and accountable to me in all aspects of their work. They will always ask what is required and not make assumptions about any aspect of the assistance I need or how it should be carried out.
The role is subject to a 3 month probationary period during which you will be closely supervised. Within this 3 months, either party may terminate the contract with 1 week written notice.
Pre-employment Checks:
Prior to starting work you will be subject of an Enhanced DBS and reference checks. You will also be asked to provide evidence of your right to work in the UK.
