We are looking for a caring, energetic and playful support worker to help a lovely 7 year old boy with complex needs, including a rare genetic condition (Unbalanced Chromosome Translocation) that affects his health and development. He has vision impairment, mobility challenges, and some food intolerances. While he is non verbal, he has his own ways of communicating his needs and responds well to patient, attentive support.
He is a fun loving little boy who thrives on exploration and sensory experiences, whether that is a trip to the playground, a visit to soft play, splashing in water activities or getting stuck into messy play. Some support will also take place in the family home.

🚗 What we are looking for
• Warm, patient and fun personality
• Someone active and happy to engage in play
• Experience working with children with autism, complex needs or disabilities would be desirable
• Someone who enjoys sensory activities and can encourage communication through play and interaction
• Ability to plan and organise activities independently and keep him engaged through play, sensory activities and community outings
• Reliable, flexible and able to follow guidance around care routines due to complex medical needs
• Good communication skills, including discussing annual leave or holidays in advance to ensure care arrangements are in place
• Comfortable using and pushing a wheelchair outdoors
• Moving and handling experience would be an advantage, although training can be provided
• Car driver essential
• Own vehicle required

🕒 Hours
• 4 hours during term time Sunday
• 8 hours during half terms and holidays
• Increasing to 12 hours from next summer with flexible hours

💷 Pay
• £14.67 per hour
