We are looking for a friendly, reliable and caring self-employed support worker to spend time with an independent lady in her 60s who lives in the Cramlington area.
This is a lovely opportunity to support someone to get out and about, enjoy activities she loves, and maintain her independence.
The lady has paralysis affecting one side of her throat, which means she can sometimes find it difficult to get her words out. Because of this, we are looking for somebody who is patient, understanding and happy to take the time to learn how she communicates best.
What does she enjoy?
She loves:
· Going out for coffee and a chat
· Arts and crafts
· Shopping trips, especially to supermarkets and charity shops
· Playing games such as bingo and completing jigsaws
· Spending time around animals, especially dogs
What support is needed?
Support may include:
· Grocery Shopping
· Accompanying her on social outings and activities
· Supporting her to remain active, independent and involved in her local community
About You
We would love to hear from someone who is:
· Female
· Local to the Cramlington area
· Experienced in providing person-centred support
· Friendly, patient and dependable
· A driver with access to their own vehicle
· Able to transport a large wheelchair
· Covered by appropriate business-use motor insurance
Hours - 2 hours per fortnight
- Days and times can be agreed flexibly with the successful applicant and employer.
- Mileage and reasonable expenses incurred while supporting the employer will be reimbursed.
Training and DBS
An Enhanced DBS check for the adult workforce will be required. The cost will be met by the employer.
Access to training will be provided through the Learning Together online training platform, along with opportunities to learn about the employer's individual support needs.
