I am a middle aged Male full-time wheelchair user with 24-hour high dependency needs, and I require one full-time or two part-time Female Care Assistants (Personal Assistants) to join my established team of employees to assist me in all areas of complex personal care and independent living support needs, including driving a wheelchair accessible vehicle to assist me to live an active and fulfiiled life.

Candidates should ideally live within the Gravesend, Northfleet or Dartford areas and must be willing to work in a flexible manner, by which I mean able to work a mixture of morning, afternoon, evening and one overnight shift each week. Shift patterns differ from week to week.

A minimum of one years previous relevant experience is preferred, however, this is not essential because extensive in-house Spinal Cord Injury aftercare training is provided via shadow-shifts on commencement of employment, together with externally sourced training from an experienced Spinal Cord Injury Nurse healthcare professional.

This is a physical job role that involves moving, handling, transferring and positioning using a hoist and sliding sheet, and the provision of physiotherapy / passive limb movements for which training is provided. A good state of physical health and stamina is therefore essential.

The person specific nature of the job role dictates the need for confidentiality, commitment, communication and mutual trust and respect, are essential.

This is a unique opportunity to support a physically disabled person to live independently in the community to achieve the best quality of life possible in difficult personal circumstances, which can be very rewarding, provides great job satisfaction and the opportunity to learn new care skills.
