Female Personal Care Assistant for a senior lady P/T @ £11.91/hr in Seaton Deleval - Whitley Bay - NE25

An elderly woman in the Seaton Delaval area is looking for a committed care worker to join her current team of care workers to provide support with personal care and household tasks to help her remain independent at home. The woman lives at home with her husband and support is to provide respite for her husband
The client:
- has a diagnosis of Alzheimer's, Anxiety and Depression
- has a quiet personality but with time and encouragement she will be more open and chattier.
- requires a regular, consistent routine to support her mental wellbeing. Uncertainty and unexpected changes increase her anxiety which tends to get worse in the evening.
- likes to watch films and television, especially Emmerdale and Coronation Street and will base her evening routine around these programmes. She does not enjoy crafts or baking activities.
- requires time and support to make decisions and will ask for your input but does not like to lose her own choice.
- has a weekly routine and this needs to be maintained to avoid anxiety and stress.
Support with personal care is required but she can do most things herself with prompting. She likes to plan and organise her clothes for the week, setting them out the day before is especially important.
The successful candidate should have a calm personality and be able to encourage the client with positive reinforcement to maintain their physical independence by going for short walks during the 2 hour visit.
The care worker is required to support with morning, lunch time and evening routine including:
· Personal care – dressing, undressing, showering, medication prompt
· Sitting service – main care worker can complete other activities away from home
· Basic household tasks e.g. washing up after meals, warming through and preparing basic meals etc
Location: Seaton Delaval
Rates of Pay: £11.91 per hour
Hours of work:
16 hours per week (TO BE SHARED) including Morning, Tea and Evening calls
· AM – 1 hour morning call to support with morning routine (excluding Mon, Tues, Wed)
· Tea – ½ hour call to support with mealtime
· Evening – ½ hour evening call to support with bedtime routine
Flexibility on times during the days will be discussed at interview.
You will receive 5.6 weeks holiday pro rata per year as part of your employment

Further Information: An Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service Certificate (DBS) will be obtained for the successful candidate (at employer’s expense) and references will be requested.
Training: Where it is required, such as in Health and Safety matters, practical training and guidance will be arranged, and the care worker will be expected to attend. This will include moving and handling, medication awareness and additional training specific to the client.
