Female Personal Assistant / Support Worker (Term Time & School Holidays)

Are you a patient, energetic and caring female Personal Assistant looking for a rewarding role supporting a fun-loving child to enjoy activities, build confidence and safely access the community?

A happy, energetic, and strong-willed young boy is looking for a Personal Assistant to provide one-to-one support. He loves being active and spending time outdoors, particularly running, climbing, and jumping. He also enjoys books, collecting magazines, watching TV, and using his iPad. His current interests include In the Night Garden, Octonauts, and anything connected to the Welsh language.
The role involves supporting him both at home and in the community, helping him take part in activities he enjoys and access safe venues such as the Tim Lamb Centre and Airbox Bounce. Personal care, including pad changing, forms part of the role.

He is non-verbal, although he has recently started using echolalia. He communicates in his own way and relies on trusted adults who take the time to understand his individual cues and preferences. He has no awareness of danger and can be a flight risk, so close supervision is essential. A mobility wheelchair is used to help him safely access the wider community. He is dependent on routine and can experience meltdowns when frustrated, overwhelmed or struggling to communicate his needs.
We would particularly welcome applications from people with first-hand experience or a good understanding of non-verbal autism. This does not need to have been gained in a professional care setting.

Hours available
• 4 hours per week during term time
 • 6 hours per week during school holidays
Essential requirements
• Female applicant due to personal care requirements
 • Understanding or experience of supporting a child with non-verbal autism
 • Patient, reliable, and attentive approach
 • Own vehicle preferred

This is a rewarding opportunity to build a meaningful relationship with a young person and support them to enjoy the activities they love while safely accessing their community. If you are caring, enthusiastic and committed to person-centred support, we would love to hear from you.
