Female Personal Assistant (Bank/Weekend Support Worker) in Cramlington £14.96 per hour - Cramlington - NE23
Job Reference (329f15dd)
Hello!
I am an autistic woman and wheelchair user looking for a friendly, reliable and understanding Personal Assistant to join my small support team. This is a rewarding opportunity to support me to live independently, maintain my job and volunteering roles, and enjoy the activities that are important to me.
I'm a creative person and enjoy spending my free time crocheting, building Lego, completing jigsaw puzzles, colouring, drawing and reading. I share my home with my assistance dog and two rabbits, so you'll need to be comfortable around animals.
I am looking for someone who is patient, respectful and easy to talk to. The right person will understand that everyone communicates differently and will support me in a way that promotes my independence, choice and wellbeing.
Previous experience of supporting autistic adults would be helpful, but it is not essential. I welcome applications from people who are neurodivergent themselves, as well as those who are keen to learn and build a positive working relationship.
What the role involves
You will support me both at home and in the community with things such as:
- Personal care
- Meal preparation
- Medication support
- Support with my PEJ feeding tube and suprapubic catheter (training provided)
- Household tasks and maintaining my home
- Attending work, volunteering, appointments and social activities
- Supporting me to remain independent and achieve my goals
Hours
- At least one 12-hour shift per week
- Shifts are usually 9.00am to 9.00pm
- Additional hours may be available to cover annual leave and sickness
- Flexibility is appreciated as occasional appointments or work commitments may require changes to usual hours
Essential Requirements
- Female applicant only due to personal care needs
- Driver with a full UK manual driving licence
- Own vehicle required
- Able to drive a manual wheelchair accessible vehicle (WAV)
- Reliable, trustworthy and committed to providing person-centred support
- Comfortable working around dogs and rabbits, as allergies would make the role unsuitable
