Job title: Personal Assistant/ Support Worker
Hourly Rate - £9.43 the parent will top this up to £10 per hour
Holiday Entitlement – 5.6 weeks per annum pro rata
Probationary Period – 3 months
Hours are flexible but ideally 3 hours during the week and 3 on a weekend. The little girl is 5 next week and will be attending school full time.

Job Purpose
To support my daughter Matilda (Tilly) who has a diagnosis of Rett Syndrome
This person requires support with all personal care needs and will need support from a personal assistant to wash, dress be fed, toileting, brushing teeth and feeding as she has a feeding plan and her food blended. Tilly can communicate using her eye gaze device and will let her personal assistant know how she is feeling and whether she is hungry or thirsty.
Tilly will also require support with accessing social and leisure tasks and has a wheelchair and the hours will be used to visit places away from home as well as take part in activities in the home or outside. Access to equipment for Tilly to be independent will be available including her walker, her high low chair and her peeped chair.
Supervision
Tilly's personal assistant will be directed by Tilly's mum Dee and will always ask what is required and understand Tilly’s means of communicating, including with her eye gaze device, intensive interaction and low tech communication book.
Main duties
Personal care
Support to access interests and hobbies such as reading, craft, playdough, drawing, creating things
Support with sensory activities including TACPAC
Support with feeding and maintaining her healthcare needs
Support with communicating on eye gaze
Support on participating in activities outside the home including visiting centres and parks.
Essential Requirements
Training and knowledge of Rett Syndrome
Driving Licence
Childcare qualification
Skilled with working with children
An Understanding of working with non verbal children
A DBS will be completed and two references taken up prior to starting your role.
Mobile phone use is prohibited unless in an emergency
