Job Title –Support Worker - To join an existing team working in a home environment
Typically 1-2-1 : 12hr Day shifts * Nshift may be required as part of contingency plan e.g. acute illness
Hours: Contracted minimum av. xx hrs week likely ~24 to be agreed : Plus: Cover e.g. holidays/absence
Wage: £17.34 hr weekdays: £21.06 hr weekends( Av. £18.40 hr): Bank holidays are paid at double time
Paid 4 weekly in arrears.
Location: Guidepost/Choppington outskirts, Northumberland
Intro
The purpose is to support a mobile man, age 57 with a brain injury to achieve a fulfilling and maximum quality life as he continues to live in his own home with his wife.
The brain injury causes complex support needs that require constant supervision and support.
A skilled and experienced support worker is needed to provide familiar long term; care, wellness and reablement support working as part of a team.
Support is typically one to one with some shifts /part shifts being two to one.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
To provide enabling support for ………………… hours per week.

· Work consistently in line with detailed support plans and risk assessments using ongoing situational assessment and decision making in relation to presentation.
Effectively support him and/or carry out activities for him to achieve positive outcomes in relation to:
- Personal and healthcare routines
- Activities for daily living and domestic duties.
- Recreational, vocational and some community activities
- Record keeping
- Any other appropriate and reasonable duties as directed.
- Actively participate in and complete training and supervisions as required for the role.

Experience & Training
Multiple Shadow shifts / induction, online and offsite training and will be provided.
Essential
Prior care experience
Experience of working with brain injury or associated injuries/ illnesses.
Strong observational skills and keen awareness of verbal and nonverbal communication
Positive Behavioural Support/ De-escalation Techniques /Challenging Behaviour
Desirable
Working with adults in their own homes or residential setting
Certificate in Care level 2/3 or equivalent
Up to date care training e.g., health & safety, safeguarding, first aid, moving & handling, meds, MCA/DoLS, GDPR
As the client has facilities at home being able to support and participate in vocational and recreational activities such as basic DIY, woodworking and recreational activities such as pool, table tennis etc.
