Job Purpose: A rewarding opportunity as a personal assistant has become available to support a 12-year-old girl who has learning disabilities, autism, ADHD, communication, social & emotional difficulties, and epilepsy.
The ideal candidate must be calm, patient, energetic, highly reliable, and above all, enthusiastic. You would provide fun and engaging one-to-one support, enabling her to enjoy activities, whilst focusing on community inclusion, skill development and providing essential family respite.
Location: Dereham, Norfolk NR19
Details:
•Community Fun: Going to activities like trips to the local park, soft play, swimming pool, or other leisure activities
•Personal Care: Providing essential support with personal care, including pad changes and toileting
•Skill Building: Help learn valuable life skills through structured domestic tasks, such as supporting with cooking skills or light tidying, and help with the food shop twice a week

• Experience with children who have additional needs, autism, and learning disabilities
• Knowledge or understanding of autism & ADHD and specifically Epilepsy, including seizure management and emergency procedures
• Willingness to undertake provided Epilepsy training and Health & Safety/GDPR training
• Qualification in Health & Social Care, Childcare, or a related field (e.g., NVQ Level 2/3)
• A Full UK Driving Licence and access to a reliable vehicle with business car insurance, is preferred for accessing community activities

Summary terms and conditions:
-The rate of pay for this position is £14 per hour. Plus £0.45 per mile travel expenses.
-Hours and times of work: Consistent support is required, aiming for 5-7 hours every other Saturday or Sunday, plus a 5-7hour day each week of a school holiday. Additional hours may be available, when deemed necessary.
-Other duties will be discussed if/when deemed appropriate but everything that will be expected will be explained prior to acceptance of the position.
-The annual holiday entitlement for this position will be equivalent to the work I would normally expect to be done during 5.6 consecutive weeks.
-Access to free training for employed workers.
-If this job requires; Manual Handling, Handling of hazardous chemicals and/or Food Handling you will be required undertake annual training.
The post is subject to the following:
· A satisfactory enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check, the cost of which will be covered by the employer.
· Satisfactory references from two referees, one of which must be your current or last employer.
· Completion of a satisfactory probationary period of 6 months.
