I’m a man in my mid 20’s living in Fishponds, Bristol. I am looking to recruit a PA able to commence work immediately, subject to satisfactory references and DBS check. PA will join my current care team to cover regular shifts each week, who will provide my personal care and support me to live independently in my flat. People who are caring, friendly, patient and who can understand and deliver the needs required. I am looking for physical support as well as companionship for community activities and social outings.
I am mad about sport – love to watch sport on TV, see it live and talk about it!
I have season tickets for both my local football and cricket clubs, which I attend regularly. I play Boccia twice a week at a local club - enter competitions and play for my regional team. I like to swim at least once a week and enjoy trips to the cinema, theatre and socialising at the local pub with friends and companions. I would like the opportunity to get more involved in the local community. I use a powered wheelchair all the time for my mobility due to Cerebral Palsy.
Confirmed shifts - average 24.66 hrs per week with the option for overtime to cover absence/holiday.

Tuesday 1900 – 0800 Total 26 hours
Week 3
Saturday 0800 – 1900
Sunday 0800 – 1900 Total 22 hours
The successful applicant will need to be reliable, organised, and have a flexible approach to work. My carers should work together, alongside the appointed Team Leader, and be open to covering one another during sickness and holidays, as required.
As a Personal Care Assistant your job will be to provide personal care:
- Toileting
- Showering/shaving
- Dressing
- Support into wheelchair
- Encourage me to use standing facility on wheelchair
- Encourage exercise at home on my bike
- Administer Medication
- And Meals, inc assistance to cut foods
Includes domestic duties:
- Food shopping
- Cooking
- Cleaning
- Laundry
Includes Social duties
- To be a Companion at social events and activities
- Using public transport
You must be able to handle the physical skills of lifting, pushing and bending. You do not have to be physically strong to do this but it does help, as does good general health.
Previous experience is desirable. There will be an opportunity to take up appropriate training - e.g. in mobility handling etc, to help you fully in your role. Please note that due to COVID19 some training may be on line.
Shift 0800 – 1900 paid at £9.50 per hour, Shift 1900 – 0800 sleeping nights, paid at £8.91 per hour, through the PAYE scheme. This is not a cash in hand position.
Ideal Candidate:
An understanding of social care, patience & good communications skills, responsible, confident, sociable & reliable. Fun personality, sense of humour & a relaxed attitude.
Clean & tidy in both appearance & ways and have a full clean driving licence.
Essential Criteria:
You must be able to handle the physical skills of lifting, pushing and bending. You do not have to be physically strong to do this but it does help, as does good general health. You must have good communication skills and fluent in English language. You must be able to cook healthy meals and be comfortable in doing personal care. You must respect my privacy, and have an understanding of the need for confidentiality. You must be a non-smoker.
You must be legally able to work in the UK. Proof of ID, two references and a full DBS check will be required, before anyone is hired. There will be a trial period of 12 weeks (TBD) while the team settles.
