Care Assistant for Totterdown lady P/T (18-22hrs/wk) @£13.20/ph, pension/holidays/sick pay - BRISTOL - BS4
Job Reference (b15a9262)
My name is Catherine, I'm 53, I am a partially disabled female artist, living in the Totterdown area of Bristol and am an independent person with a good sense of humour. I am a non-smoker, and have two rescue cats called Marshmallow and Tinkerbell. I enjoy gardening, I have an allotment, I love films and read a lot.
I mainly get about using a stick, but sometimes need to use a wheelchair. I need support with domestic tasks, food shopping, laundry, food prep, driving to appointments, gardening and physio exercises. Sometimes you will be required to help with taking my pottery to a studio in Barton Hill and once a week I borrow a little dog called Luna for an hour to go to a local park. Having some gardening or allotment experience would be preferable but not essential.
No personal care required but sometimes I need support / encouragement to carry out tasks so that I can live as independent a life as possible. You might be required to make some phone calls on my behalf as I struggle to use the phone.
The ideal candidate would be energetic, a good communicator, friendly, adaptable and intuitive with good memory recall. They should also be able to carry out tasks with attention to detail, take direction well but also be able to make independent decisions when needed. Multitasking and time management is part of the job along with having a positive attitude and ability to adapt to new tasks if they arise.
Access to a car that is air zone compliant is essential and a non-smoker is essential. A DBS check will be required but if you don’t have one this can be arranged via WECIL.
Short listed applicants may be required to do a short trial shift (£12 per hour) and if successful will do a 6 week probationary period, with pay at £13.20 per hour. On completion of successful probation, a formal contract will be agreed, with 5.6 weeks paid holiday, a pension, sick pay and 50p per milage allowance.
The 18-22 hours would be worked over three shifts a week (ideally Monday, Wednesday and Friday) but I can be flexible. Though Wednesday is a key day as I have some commitments and appointments. Please state in your application what days you would be able to work. No weekends required. I can be flexible about times of day worked to fit in with your schedule. Training will be given.
