Young lady in Ponteland area with cerebral palsy requires support workers for 10hrs per week.
Client is non verbal, but is able to express, make choices etc using various non verbal communication. This includes facial expressions, vocalisation, symbol book and electronic communication aid ( VOCA)
5hrs to be provided on two days per week – days can be flexible for the right person and weekend working is not required.
Ideal times would be 10am – 3pm but again can be flexible.
Experience preferred of working with clients with cerebral palsy.
Driver preferred but not essential. Drivers will be allowed use of adapted vehicle.
Hours of work: 10hrs per week
Rates of Pay: £15.04 per hour
Location: Ponteland area
Main Duties:
To support a young lady who is a full time wheelchair user to access the community and places of interest. Young lady is lively, bubbly and enthusiastic who likes a laugh and loves to be out and about and busy.
We are looking for like-minded workers who enjoy being creative, baking, arts, crafts and sometimes just sitting people watching. If you think this is a run of the mill job then think again!! If you are dull and boring then this is not the job for you.
The ideal person is someone who can show initiative and make activities interesting and engaging and come up with new things each week. Someone who is understanding of limitations but also willing to encourage and reassure.
Long term there will be a requirement to support with hoisting, personal care and toileting, support around feeding and providing drinks. This will only be considered once a relationship has been built up and full training will be provided.

Further Information: An Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service Certificate (DBS) will have to be obtained for the successful candidate (at employer’s expense).
Training: Where it is required, such as in Health and Safety matters, practical training and guidance will be arranged and the care worker will be expected to attend.
