Personal Assistant required for Disabled young man in Bishopston
We are looking for a reliable, confident, and proactive Personal Assistant (PA) to support a young person, at home and in the community. This role aims to promote independence, safety and enjoyable access to meaningful activities.
About the Role
You will support a family with a young adult who has additional needs. He is non-verbal, uses PECS (Picture Exchange Communication System), and responds well when called by his first name and to prompts, modelling, and basic spoken commands. The PA should feel confident engaging with a young adult who uses alternative communication methods. He can point and vocalise his needs.
Main Duties
To support child with:
· Also support in the home to do arts and crafts and use his I-pad.
· Support and supervision accessing the community: Walking, playing football, cycling and trampolining
· Needs support crossing the road and with road safety.
· Help with steps as he cannot judge depth.
· Navigating to and from his home.
· Support to route plan and become familiar in his local area.
· Support with sensory overload when he is out in the community, he needs reassurance.
Essential Criteria
· Experience of working with autism and ADHD
· Must have use of own vehicle.
· The PA must have previous care experience supporting children or young people with additional or communication needs.
- Confidence with visual communication systems (such as PECS), de-escalation, and supporting an energetic child in community activities is essential.
Personal Qualities & Attributes Required
· Responsible, reliable, and trustworthy.
· Excellent timekeeping.
· Some previous PA experience would be advantageous but not essential.
· Good communication and social skills.
· To respect confidentiality and privacy.
Location: Bishopston, Bristol
Hours: 10 hours per week {Monday to Friday 12:00 to 14:00 pm}
Pay: £12.60 Per Hour (due to increase in April 2026.
Holiday: 5.6 weeks per year including bank holidays (pro rata for part time).
Start Date: ASAP.

· Appointment will be subject to a DBS check, funded by the employer.
